Archaeological site of Olympia

In the 10th century B.C., the site of Olympia, located in a valley in the Peloponnesus, became a centre for the worship of Zeus. In addition to its temples, the site boasts the remains of all the sporting structures erected for the Olympic Games, which were held in Olympia every four years, beginning in 776 B.C.
